Summer Festival July 2019
We were delighted to have great support for our weekend Summer Festival. All involved agreed that it was a perfect opportunity for the community to come together to enjoy some excellent entertainment. Alongside our bands “Anything Else”, “Quatro Hobo y Amigos”; “Blueprint” and “Jazz Incorporated”, we had “J” Anthony, our entertaining and skilful compere for the Open Mic session. Our showcase of local talent at the Open Mic also saw an unexpected appearance from a professional “Queen” tribute group who happened to be in the area! The inflatable assault course proved very popular, alongside games run by Pebmarsh Youth Club and stalls selling crafts and local wildlife photography. (Photo Credit: Roger Cuthbert, Kate Stubbs)
Open Mic Nights
The regular Open Mic Nights are always popular events, with the younger residents of Pebmarsh well represented.
First Birthday Party
The PCPL Management Committee and Debbie & Stuart organised a very popular weekend of first birthday celebrations for the community owned King’s Head in September 2018. (Photo credit Roger Cuthbert/Kate Stubbs).
After months of renovation work, the official re-opening of the King’s Head as a community owned pub was cause for a huge celebration in May, 2018. A renovated pub sign, produced by local artist Steven Binks was unveiled, and we cut the longest of yellow ribbons. (Photo credit Roger Cuthbert)
The purchase of the empty King’s Head building and site was achieved thanks to the enormous support of the local community and with invaluable advice from The Plunkett Foundation, a charity that advises community groups on enterprises like pubs and village shops. We are also grateful to “Pub is the Hub” for their advice and support. The funds raised by the 400+ Members who purchased shares, combined with a central government grant, enabled us to complete the purchase of the King’s Head on 29 June 2017.
