History of the King’s Head

Built in c1450 as a drover’s inn, the Grade II listed King’s Head reopened in November 2017, following purchase by Pebmarsh Community Pub Limited. This was made possible by the support of more than 400 shareholders in the local community.

The King’s Head, prior to purchase by PCPL had faced the threat of permanent closure.

It is the intention of the PCPL Management Committee, in the medium and longer term, to research and document the important role played by the King’s Head in our community, both in the recent and more distant past.  If this is something to which you would like to contribute, or if you have images or information that you would like to share, please contact the PCPL Committee via pcpshareholder@gmail.com

Some of the past licensees of the King’s Head gathered for the official re-opening in November 2017.

Our thanks to all those who have already sourced or donated a range of historic images of the King’s Head and Pebmarsh. Many of these now on display in the pub building.
